Biography: John Naber enjoyed a spectacular career swimming both at USC and internationally, topped off by winning the 1977 Sullivan Award as the nation's top amateur athlete. At the 1976 Montreal Olympics, he won gold medals in the 100- and 200-m backstroke, the 400 medley relay and the 800 freestyle relay, setting new world records in each event. In addition, he won a silver medal in the 200 free. At USC, Naber led the Trojans to 4 NCAA team titles from 1974-77 by winning 10 individual titles and participating on 5 winning relay teams.
